The Red Horse Safari Calendar

Port Waikato IS NOW CANCELLED FOR 2012

The Red Horse Safari is a 4X4 only Quad Tour which this year includes 4X4 Side by Side vehicles such as the Honda MUV, Polaris SRS, Yamaha Rhino, etc.

Non negotiable rules are:

Quads MUST be 4X4 – no exceptions
No doubling (passengers) on Quads (not even for Two Seaters)
No T Bars or gun racks or excessive protruding objects on quads
Helmets must be worn on all vehicles
Seatbelts must be done up on Side X Side vehicles
Each vehicle must have a 6 metre rope (10mm Min thickness) attached to the front of their vehicle for easy access.. Even if you have a winch.
Each vehicle must carry sufficient drinking water with them.
Must have decent tyres with at least 50% tread left – no bald tyres allowed
Full Tank of Gas and spare 10 lt at the HQ
Decent tyres no less that 50% worn

It is recommended but not compulsory to have the following:

A spade of some description
A winch fitted to the front of the vehicle
New or near new Tyres
First Aid Kid
Means to inflate tyres
Wet weather gear
Warm clothing (and spare set on bike)
Dry Cloth
Tools to repair minor issues

This is a tour as opposed to a race and encompasses many unavailable areas not or seldom used by other vehicles. In Maramarua in particular, we use the central trail riding block but also venture into the other two forest blocks that have restricted access.

At lunch time we supply a hot gourmet BBQ complete with Satays, Salads, Gourmet Burger and more plus of course drinks and Tea/Coffee.

So you must Pre Register so we can organise meals, guides, access fees, etc.

Everyone must assemble before 9 for the 9 am briefing and departure. We expect to return for lunch around 12:30 pm then head out to more exciting trails and views for an afternoons riding finishing around 4 pm.

Cost is: $120 per vehicle

$30 per Passenger in a Side X Side vehicle.
